Random text + video chat
TalkWithStrangerCam connects you with a single stranger per match. Start with a simple message. If you click, follow them and go face to face from their profile.
Start Random ChatNo awkward intros. Just say hi.
Yes, and that is the whole idea behind TalkWithStrangerCam. Pick Text on the match screen, type with your camera off, and only move to voice or video once the other person feels worth it. If they do, tap Follow, then call them straight from their profile.
Plenty of people use it exactly like that. The first ten messages tell you more than a face does: whether they ask questions back, whether they are funny, whether they are just looking for someone to be rude to. Keep the ones you like, skip the rest. The random text chat guide has openers and pacing advice, and when you are ready to hear a voice, calling a stranger covers light, sound and what to say when the call connects.
Three steps, and the first one takes about a second. You arrive as a guest, so there is no form to fill. Tap Start, choose how you want to talk, and say hello. Everything after that depends on the person who turns up, which is the point of a random chat.
Open the match screen and tap Start. You get one random person, picked by nobody. That is the fun part.
Pick Text along the bottom first. No camera pressure, no mirror check. Say hi and see if they say something back worth answering.
If it clicks, follow them and call from their profile, or switch your next match to Audio or Video. Whenever it feels right, not before.
Random matching is not the only way to meet someone here. The other is the online list: open it, look around, and say hi to someone directly from their profile. You can send a message, follow them, or start a video chat from the same page.
The list also has a Live tab. People there are streaming, and you can watch for a while, drop a comment or a gift, and ask for a one to one from inside the stream. Shy people like it because nobody is looking at you while you decide. If you mostly want to chat with girls, the talk to girls online guide explains what gets a reply and what gets ignored.
A small habit that pays off: when a conversation goes well, follow before you tap Next. Random matching rarely hands you the same person twice, and it is a strange feeling to remember a great chat from last Tuesday with no way back to it. Following costs nothing and keeps the door open. People from 50+ countries use the site, so the person you liked at midnight might be having breakfast, and a message waiting in their inbox is the easiest way to pick things up later.
The full name is TalkWithStrangerCam, and it is a mouthful. So people shorten it: they type talkwithstranger, talk with stranger or, in a hurry, talk to stangers, and every one of those lands here. We are happy to answer to any of them.
The name is literal. You come here to talk with a stranger, and the Cam on the end is there because the conversation can turn into a face to face one when both of you want it. Text is the front door. Voice and camera are doors you can open later, or never. The about page tells the longer story of why we put the text box first.
Text suits most first conversations, voice suits people who hate typing, and camera suits the moment you already know you like someone. All three live on the same match screen, so you can change your mind between matches. Here is how they compare when you talk with strangers for the first time.
| Mode | Good for | What they get from you | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Text | Late nights, shared rooms, testing the vibe | Your words, nothing else | Messages can be translated automatically |
| Audio | People who think out loud, walks, tired eyes | Your voice, camera stays off | Earbuds make a huge difference |
| Video | When you want to see who you are talking to | Your face and your room | Check the light behind you first |
A quick example. Say you are on the couch, your roommate is watching a movie two metres away, and you do not want to explain who you are laughing with. That is a Text night. Later, alone with headphones, Audio feels natural: you can lie down, close your eyes and just talk. Video makes the most sense when you have already exchanged a few messages with someone and you are curious what their laugh looks like. None of these choices locks you in. Switch the mode before your next match and the site follows you.
Still unsure? Start where it feels easiest. The random voice chat page is for people who would rather talk than type, and anonymous chat explains how to keep your face and your details to yourself while you get comfortable.
Because all of your attention goes to one person, and all of theirs comes back to you. You can ask a real question, wait for a real answer and decide how much of yourself to reveal. Every match is you and one other person, and there is no profile to build before you say hello.
One more habit worth keeping: treat every chat as public until you know someone. The safety guide lists the details never to type and lays out how to skip, block and report.
Each guide covers one job. Want the craft of a good first message? Read how to chat with strangers. Curious how luck works when nobody picks? See the random chat guide. First visit and want the whole route in order? How TalkWithStrangerCam works walks through it, and the home screen app explains how to keep the site one tap away.
Someone new is one click away.
