TalkWithStrangerCam Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Most privacy policies list data types in the abstract. This one walks through what you actually do on talkwithstrangercam.com, one action at a time, and says what each action leaves behind, why we keep it and who else touches it. If something here is unclear, write to [email protected] and a person on the team will answer.

01 Who we are and what this covers

TalkWithStrangerCam is the website at talkwithstrangercam.com, including the version you can add to your phone’s home screen. When this page says “we” or “us”, it means the team that operates that website. When it says “you”, it means whoever is using the site on a given device, whether for one conversation or every evening.

This policy applies from the moment a page loads. That is earlier than you might expect, because a guest session is set up before you ever tap Start, so the site can hand you a match without asking you to fill in a form.

02 When you open the site

Opening any page creates a guest account on that device. To do that, and to keep the site working, our servers receive the technical details every browser sends: your IP address, browser and device type, screen size, language setting and the time of the visit. From the IP address we work out a rough country, which helps us show the site in a sensible way and spot traffic that looks automated.

We also place a small number of cookies and local storage entries. They remember that your device is the same guest as last time, keep you in the conversation you were having, and store simple preferences such as the chat mode you used most recently. Without them, every visit would start from zero.

03 When you start a random match

Picking Text, Audio or Video on the match screen and tapping Start tells our system you are available. It then pairs you with one other person. To make that pairing, the system uses your chosen mode, your rough country and whether you have matches left. Tapping Next ends that pairing and asks for another one.

We keep a record that a match took place, when, between which two accounts, which mode it used and how it ended. That record is what lets us look into a report later, settle a question about coins, and stop someone who skips through people to harass them.

In Audio and Video modes, your browser asks permission for the microphone and, for Video, the camera. The sound and picture go from your device to the other person through our service while the match is open. You can refuse the permission and stay in Text mode; nothing else on the site depends on your camera.

04 When you type a message

Text matches and the Messages screen both store what you write, so the conversation is still there when you or the other person come back to it. If you send a message to someone from their profile, the same applies.

Automatic translation, when it is on, sends the text of a message to a translation service and shows the result next to the original. Only text is translated. Voice and camera conversations are not passed through it.

05 When you follow, block or report someone

A follow is stored so the person appears in your list and you can find their profile again. A block is stored so they can no longer reach you through the site. A report is stored together with the reason you picked, anything you typed, the time, and the details of the match or message it is about.

The person you follow does see that you follow them, the same way any profile shows its followers. We do not tell the person you report that the report came from you.

06 When you watch a live stream or the clips feed

Watching a stream in the Live tab or scrolling the short clips creates viewing records: which stream or clip, roughly how long, and from which account. Comments you write in a live stream are shown to everyone watching it at that moment and are stored with your account. A 1v1 you start from inside a stream is handled like any other one-to-one conversation described above.

These records are how the feed decides what to show you next and how we check what happened if a stream or a comment is reported.

07 When you spend or receive coins

Buying coins or a VIP subscription creates a purchase record: what you bought, the price, the currency, the time and the reference number the payment company sends back. Card numbers and bank details are entered on the payment company’s own form; we receive a confirmation, not the card itself.

Sending a gift, spending coins on matches and collecting free matches in the Reward Center all add lines to your coin history. We keep that history because it is the only way to answer “where did my coins go?” honestly.

08 When you write to support

An email to [email protected] and anything attached to it is kept with your case so the next person who picks it up does not have to ask you again. Please do not send full card numbers or passwords; we never need them.

09 Who else handles some of this

Each of these partners receives only what it needs for its part of the job. We do not sell personal information to anyone.

  • Hosting and content delivery companies that run our servers and carry images, sound and video.
  • Payment companies that take card or wallet payments for coins and VIP.
  • A translation service, only for the text of messages you choose to have translated.
  • Analytics tools that count visits and show us which pages people use, so we can fix the ones that confuse them.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it or when we believe someone is in real danger.

10 How long things stay with us

We keep information while your account is in use and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that reports can still be looked into and purchases can still be checked. Some records, mainly payments, have to be kept longer because tax and accounting rules say so. When there is no longer a reason to keep something, we delete it or strip out anything that points to you.

11 Your choices

  • Stay a guest and leave your profile blank. Nothing beyond the guest account is required to talk to strangers here.
  • Use Text mode and keep the camera and microphone permissions switched off in your browser.
  • Clear cookies and site data in your browser to end the guest session on that device.
  • Ask us for a copy of the information tied to your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete the account, by writing to [email protected] from the device you use.

12 Changes to this page

When we change how we handle information, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also point it out on the site before it takes effect.
